EYE CANDY - Original Art and CollageEvery artist goes through a creative cycle or two. Pipka began her career over 35 years ago as a decorative painter – painting furniture, bowls, and boxes in the charming primitive style that she saw in her native Bavaria. To evolve her craft, she trained with famous German artist Herr Bachschwoller in Munich.
While Pipka’s art has evolved, she is still influenced both by her heritage and her current environment. This is most evident in looking at her unique collage work, which is portrayed on wood or canvas and can include anything from Door County flowers, cherries, summer days, old photographs, Christmas themes… essentially, whatever is on her mind at the moment! She utilizes many mediums to create these pieces, including paint, papers, and a variety of found objects.
In addition to Pipka’s collage work, we also feature the art of artist and teacher Cynthia Wolfe. Wolfe’s sculptural wall hangings, ornaments, and cards are a wonderful complement to Pipka’s work at the gallery. Pipka and Cynthia can often be seen happily working together on their respective pieces in Pipka's studio cottage.
